HISTORY

In the mid 1980’s, Glenn Huminski, as a representative of  Emhart Corporation’s Russwin and Corbin architectural hardware divisions in northern California, recognized the beginning of a trend in the Architectural Hardware industry.  The trend was that of mergers, acquisitions and consolidation.  Knowing that this consolidation could lead to market place and career instability, Glenn sought a way to take destiny in his own hands.  His idea was to utilize his experience and past successes by starting a manufacturer’s representative agency which focused on representing leading independently owned manufacturers of premium grade, high quality, doors and hardware.

After evaluating demographics, it became clear that the sun-belt states would provide the best opportunity for consistent growth due to the retirement of the baby boomer generation. 

As good fortune would have it, prominent former executives of Emhart Corp. went on to lead several premium brand independently owned architectural hardware manufacturers.  With territories in the state of Florida becoming available, Glenn sought to utilize his contacts and implement his business plan.

Due to the large geographic territory of the state, and his unfamiliarity with the distribution within it, Glenn knew he needed a knowledgeable and resourceful partner to effectively implement his business plan.

Jack Sheehan AHC, the Corbin representative in the state, was thinking along the same lines.  Jack had a complete understanding of distribution in the state, professionally wrote specifications for leading architectural firms, and wanted to utilize his entrepreneurial spirit as well.

A partnership was forged.


MISSION STATEMENT

Architectural Marketing Associates, Inc. (AMA) was founded in 1989 with the objective of providing leading premium brand,  independent,  Architectural Door and Hardware manufacturers a professional sales organization to educate building design, safety, security and construction industry personnel in state of the art products, concepts and trends; insuring the maximum value for a construction budget, while meeting all applicable codes.
